Who takes the old folks?
No, this isn't about Christmas. I'm talking about former executives who, after an acquisition, suddenly find themselves without the steering wheel. Once driving the company's direction, the ex-CEO now stands idle, sidelined like a Christmas tree post-New Year’s Day. No one quite knows what to do with him.

Timing is everything, they say. But when exactly is the perfect time to start your post-merger integration?
Right after closing? Sure, you can do that.
Or maybe you wait a little. That can be smart too, as long as you don't let the integration fall off the radar entirely. After all, you'll probably have a clearer head and a better overview at a later point. And better late than never, right?
But too late isn't exactly a winning strategy either. So, what’s the sweet spot?

Welcome to the Chamber of Carve-out Catastrophes! This is where vital parts of a company are cut out without a ghostly goal in sight. Responsibilities are a mystery, so everyone points their bony fingers at each other as the project stumbles around aimlessly like a zombie. Under the full moon, seemingly independent systems transform into an impenetrable thicket of bizarre entanglements. The mystery of the vanished synergies and the phantom of the lost licenses will send chills down your spine. Crucial customer data disappears faster than in a haunted house or ends up in the digital graveyard. Cold shivers run down your back when carve-outs reveal themselves to be complexity monsters, suddenly opening the gates to a financial hell painted in blood-red numbers.
